Andréa Ferraz, a distinguished artist hailing from São Paulo, Brazil, launched her artistic journey in 1994. Her early career saw her performing voiceovers for Joe Frank’s "Somewhere Out There" and co-producing influential radio shows like "Morning Becomes Eclectic" .and "Café LA" on KCRW, 89.9 FM, at Santa Monica College. There, she also played a pivotal role in organizing the station’s pledge drive.
A recipient of the esteemed voice mentor scholarship at SMC, Andréa pursued Opera studies and delivered numerous lyric soprano recitals, including lead roles such as Pamina in Mozart’s "The Magic Flute". Her acting prowess was further recognized in 1999 when she won the “Best Actor of the Festival” award at the Kennedy Center’s ACTF competition for her performance in Chekhov’s "Uncle Vanya".
Her professional stage career began with the Pasadena Shakespeare Company in "King Lear", followed by a full scholarship MFA program at the University of Delaware’s PTTP (Professional Theatre Training Program) now REP (Resident Ensemble Players).
Following graduation in 2003, Andréa trained under the legendary Tadashi Suzuki in Japan’s Toga-Mura, performing in a bilingual production of Sophocles’s Oedipus Rex.
Memorable performances include roles in "All the King’s Men", "The Winter’s Tale", "Mrs. Warren’s Profession", "The Cherry Orchard", and many others across prominent theatres nationwide.
At the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Andréa shone in roles such as Pride in "Dante’s Inferno", Maria in "Love’s Labor’s Lost", Lady Bountiful in "The Beaux’ Stratagem", and Amy in the world premiere of "Gibraltar".
In voiceover, Andréa’s talents were showcased with Voxx, Fox, and Walt Disney, dubbing numerous soap operas, films, TV series, cartoons, including an original cast role in the Oscar-nominated animated film "Rio" (2011).
Her versatility extends to music, where she has contributed to TV shows like FX’s "Damages", sung original brazilian jazz and performed at notable venues, including the Brazilian Annual Carnaval at the Staples Center’s Club Nokia.
Currently, she composes and produces music at Back O’ Beyond Studios in Sedona and curates music for Amazon, specializing in Brazilian, Reggae, and World Music playlists.
In 2024, Andréa joined the Southwest Shakespeare Company for their 30th anniversary season, where she captivated audiences with her performances as Titania and Hippolyta in Shakespeare’s "A Midsummer Night’s Dream". Additionally, she took on the lead role in "House of Desires" by the brilliant 17th-century Mexican writer, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz. This production highlighted Sor Juana’s revolutionary work, celebrated for its exploration of women's rights and social justice through poetic narratives, cementing her as Mexico’s most revered literary figure and their first female playwright.
